Donations

Note: Financial offerings that are earmarked for individuals or needs outside of Canada will not get a tax receipt. This is pursuant to the Canadian tax laws.

By Interac e-Transfer

This is the preferred option. We highly recommend that you offer to the church via e-Transfer whenever possible.

  1. Log into your bank via online banking.
  2. Follow the instructions provided by your bank:
    1. BMO
    2. CIBC
    3. HSBC
    4. Royal Bank
    5. Scotiabank
    6. TD
    7. Vancity
  3. Set up a new payee:
    • Payee: The Church in Vancouver
    • Email: donations@churchinvancouver.org
    • Phone: leave it blank
  4. Send the money:
    • Security question: leave it blank
    • Message/Memo:
      • How you would like to designate the offering, e.g. $50 for General, $50 for Hall 1, $50 for Campus Team. By default offerings made without a designation are considered general offerings to the church in Vancouver.
      • If you want a donation receipt for income tax filing, include the following as well:
        • Your legal name (if it’s different from the name in your bank account)
        • Your address.

By Cheque

  1. Make a cheque payable to: The Church in Vancouver
  2. You may designate the offering(s) in the memo line, or on an attached piece of paper.
  3. Insert the cheque into the offering box at Hall 1. The offering box is located by Room 107 on the main floor.
  4. Please do this before the meeting or immediately after the end of the meeting because the brothers will open the offering box 15 minutes after the meeting ends.

By Cash to the Church

If the donor wishes to receive a tax receipt, they should indicate clearly on the envelope who the donation is from, e.g., "From So-and-So". No tax receipts will be issued for anonymous cash donations.

  1. Push the cash inside an envelope.
  2. Write a clear designation on the envelope, e.g. $50 for General, $50 for Hall 1, $50 for Campus Team. By default offerings made without a designation are considered general offerings to the church in Vancouver.
  3. Insert the envelope into the offering box at Hall 1. The offering box is located by Room 107 on the main floor.
  4. Please do this before the meeting or immediately after the end of the meeting because the brothers will open the offering box 15 minutes after the meeting ends.

By Cash to Individuals

No tax receipt will be issued for such offerings. The brothers will not open envelopes addressed to individuals.

  1. Push the cash inside an envelope.
  2. Indicate clearly on the envelope that it is meant for the individual(s), e.g. “To Brother So-and-So.”
  3. Insert the envelope into the offering box at Hall 1. The offering box is located by Room 107 on the main floor.
  4. Please do this before the meeting or immediately after the end of the meeting because the brothers will open the offering box 15 minutes after the meeting ends.
  5. The brothers will hand this envelope directly to the recipient(s) as soon as possible.
